OLYMPIA – Canyon Creek Cabinet Company was honored October 7 with Washington’s top environmental award for their efforts designing processes to eliminate waste and developing materials to reduce or eliminate the use of toxic substances.
The Monroe company received the 2008 Governor’s Award for Sustainable Practices, one of four businesses and organizations the state recognized this year for their success in moving Washington towards a more sustainable future.
This is the second
win for the manufacturer of custom-built, affordable cabinetry for homes. It shows
they have continued and expanded
their sustainable practices since their 1999 win.
“The organizations
and businesses we recognize this year are outstanding examples of
environmental, social and economic sustainability,” said Department of Ecology
Director Jay Manning. “By taking care of the planet and its people, being
stewards of the environment and their communities, our winners inspire us and
demonstrate how each of us can contribute to long-term environmental and
economic success.”
